NOVAfloor installation

Read these instructions before beginning installation

TOOLS

  1. Tujima knife and replaceable blades
  2. Ventilated goggles
  3. Dusk mask
  4. Multi LCD headlamp
  5. Protective clothing
  6. Tape measure
  7. Glow spray paint

MATERIALS

  1. Novafloor pre-cut sheets (all sheets are 1.2m in length and supplied at various widths).
  2. Novafloor strips (1.2m x 200mm)

SAFETY

  1. Do not use staples or mechanically fix Novafloor
  2. Avoid cutting sheets of Novafloor against joists or bearers

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Present the long edge of the sheet to the inside of the joist and then pressure fit the body of the sheet hard up under the floor as per picture 1(on back of slip label). Fold the trailing edge down so that the friction fit is complete. The folded section can be up to 75mm without compromising the thermal performance of the Novafloor.

When fitting into gaps wider than the Novafloor sheet, place a Novafloor strip against the inside edge of a floor joist, butt the edge of the Novafloor sheet against the edge of the Novafloor strip, then pressure fit the body of the Novafloor sheet hard up under the floor, folding the trailing edge down as per picture 2 (on back of slip label).

FITTING AROUND DOUBLE JOISTS
In the situation where a single joist becomes a double joist, simply make a right angle out and fit the Novafloor sheet as per picture 3 (on back of slip label).

BRICK BUILDINGS OR BUILDINGS WITH VENTILATED CAVITIES IN WALLS
In case of brick building or a building with ventilated cavity in walls fit the Novafloor sheets to the last exterior floor joist. Do not insulate over the ventilated cavity as it may undermine air circulation and result in excessive moisture in the wall.

CUTTING
On site cutting should be kept to a minimum using the specialist knife and blades. Change the blade regularly. Avoid cutting sheets of Novafloor against joists or bearers.

PIPES
For all piping and plumbing fittings, always maintain a 100mm gap between the Novafloor and the pipes in case of any future water leak. This will also ensure adequate access to any serviceman repairing damaged pipes.

WIRING
Mark up all electrical wiring and telephone lines with glow spray paint, prior to starting the job. Where possible, Novafloor should be fitted above the electrical wiring lines. Warning tags should be placed at points where Novafloor covers the electrical wiring. Take proper care not to crush or damage the power or phone lines.
Do not use staples or mechanically fix Novafloor.

FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE
To ensure optimum performance there should be no air gaps between the edges of the fitted Novafloor sheets and the floor joists as per picture 4 (on back of slip label).
